The Midwest Museum of American Art is pleased to present a Spotlight Exhibit featuring the artwork of Mary Amador.
The exhibit consists of 12 mixed media works that relate to the artist’s biographical experiences as told through portraits of her children and family.
The artist states, “As a small girl, I grew up living next to the water– a fitting metaphor for my childhood. Surrounded by bobbers, floats, lures, and boats. These nostalgic symbols often surface in my work, merging with the religious influences that also shaped me. My early work started as a cathartic path to express my experiences as a Mexican-American child. I find my work evolving, influenced by my role as a mother and all of its boundless emotions. I find the need to transfer these feelings to my art with my children serving as my subjects.”

The exhibit will conclude on Sunday, February 20, 2022.
