ELKHART — Midwest Museum of American Art Director Brian Byrn will interview sculptor Tuck Langland at 12:15 p.m. March 10 as this week’s Noon Time Talk at 429 S. Main St.
The talk is in conjunction with the exhibit “Tuck Langland: Beginnings,” which continues through April 10.
“Beginnings” tells the early story of a local sculptor whose long career grew across the United States and beyond. It includes Langland’s childhood desk, with the salt hand print he made in kindergarten and the model boat he made as a teenager on it. The rest of the exhibition includes artwork created during his student and graduate school years and ends about the time he had his first solo show.
Langland moved to South Bend in 1971 to take up a position teaching art at the new Indiana University South Bend. Now living in Elkhart, he is a Fellow in the National Sculpture Society and a member of the National Academy of Art. His sculptures are in 10 museum collections and several botanical gardens.
Masks are required for all gallery talks if visitors are unvaccinated. Masks are strongly recommended for the vaccinated.
Admittance is limited to 50 people.
Admission to the Noon Time Talk is $5; free for members.
Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 1 to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
Admission is $10-$6.
