Sprite is a term that is used to encompass many types of “fairy-like” creatures that can be discovered through European folklore. Sprites also can go by more specific names such as, Fairy, Elf, Spriggan, Pyxie, Pillywiggen, Tomte,
Nisse, and Goblin.
In this “Sprite After Christmas” (exhibit within an exhibit) Artist, Rhonda Whitledge, will tuck away a colorful variety of her polymer clay creations throughout the Main Gallery in context with works in the MMAA collection. Families will be able to ‘seek-and-find’ these creatures while learning about American Art along the way!
An interactive map is provided.
The exhibit has been extended through February 28, 2023.
