Gabor Peterdi: The Early Works

January 12-April 11, 2021

Gabor Peterdi is a Hungarian-born, Master Printmaker who taught for 27 years at Yale University. Many of these never-before-seen etchings & drawings represent the artist’s feelings of escalating violence in Europe beginning in 1935 continuing through World War II to 1948. Joining these works of art are other military objects on loan from Loren & Gayle Shaum of Syracuse. This material culture represents the WWII journey of Lewis Dean Shaum (1924-1945), the oldest brother and third child of six born to Ernest & Agnes Shaum of Dunlap.
