The Midwest Museum of American Art is pleased to announce the opening of its annual observance of Youth Art Month on Friday, March 12, 2021.
This year marks the 42nd year that an exhibit featuring student artwork has been shown at the Midwest Museum of American Art. Selected by art educators from five area high schools, students were selected to exhibit 84 works of art in all media. This observance provides an opportunity for students, grades 9 through 12, who have realized success in the visual arts to have their work exhibited in a museum setting. This exhibit focuses on the vitally important work carried out in the area of art education throughout the year; it is unique because it seeks to explore topics in art education such as our cognitive and emotional health, both our self and visual awareness, as well as, an appreciation of our individual differences.
The Midwest Museum of American Art would like to thank the sponsors of this exhibit for their generosity. Sponsors for Youth Art 2021 exhibit include: City of Elkhart-Mayor Rod Roberson, Elkhart Evening Optimists, Elkhart Kiwanis Club, Elkhart Lions Club, Elkhart Luncheon Optimists, State Farm Insurance – Rocky Enfield, Welch Packaging Group, William & Linda Becker (Edwardsburg), Stuart Basquin (Elkhart), Robyn & Tim Loughran (Granger), Kathy Royer (Goshen), Abby Thomas (Bristol), Ken & Kathy Zienty, (Goshen).
